Medfield

Medfield is a charming New England town located about 17 miles west of Boston. With a population of 12,000 it is a close-knit and friendly community. It is often described as very welcoming by newcomers, who are drawn to Medfield for it’s high performing schools.

While top schools draw many young families to town, the vibrant downtown district has flourished and offers many modern and upscale shops and restaurants that will delight you, such as Brother’s Marketplace, a city-style boutique market offering the finest produce, meats and prepared foods for your convenience, Park Street Books, a charming children’s book store, Juice on Main, an organic Juice Cafe, Starbucks where local students like to gather after school, and many restaurants, including two hip new choices: Avenue and Nosh & Grog.

Top Performing Schools

In 2018 Medfield High School was ranked #7 in the state by US News & World Report; Medfield Public Schools ranked 23rd overall. There are three elementary schools (Memorial: K-1, Wheelock: 2-3, Dale: 4-5), Blake Middle and Medfield High School.  

Extracurricular opportunities include award-winning Jazz, Orchestra and Band programs, Theatre Society, and excellent Athletics, including one of the most successful Boys and Girls Lacrosse and Volleyball programs in all of New England, with many state championships to prove it!

MHS recently completed the installation of new turf on it’s impressive stadium field, where families can enjoy Friday night Football games under the lights!  In addition to Football MHS students can also play Lacrosse, Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Swim Team, and Golf! 

Youth Programs

Athletic participation is very high in town and Medfield maintains impressive fields for all of its youth athletic programs, including soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse and field hockey. Both girls and boys youth ice hockey programs thrive in town as well. Regional private club team opportunities are available nearby if you’d like to expand your participation in a particular sport.  Sluggers Academy is conveniently located in town and offers private athletic and skills development for multiple sports, including baseball/softball.

Fitness & Recreation

Medfield offers a wide array of sites to enjoy the outdoors, including Rocky Woods Reservation (491 acres with trails) and the old Medfield State Hospital site (1000 acres of open space) with trails to the Charles River, where you can drop in your canoe or kayak and paddle the scenic waterway!  Little ones will enjoy modern playgrounds at Metacomet and Hinckley Parks, and people of all ages will enjoy the tennis courts at Metacomet Park.

 The Kingsbury Club offers a fitness center as well as tennis and swimming. Other fitness options include Reebok Crossfit, several yoga studios, and dance studios.

The Arts

The Cultural Alliance of Medfield is the gateway to the many cultural activities and organizations in town and is a great resource for enjoying all that Medfield has to offer.

Zullo Gallery Center for the Arts, is located in the heart of downtown Medfield, adjacent to the Medfield Public Library, and offers exhibits and art classes for all ages and abilities, as well as live music and guest speaker events.

Community Support

New 'n Towne is a volunteer run organization offering monthly activities to member residents who are new to town. The primary goal of the group is to help people of all ages make connections through a variety of activities, from kids playgroups, to book clubs, girls night out and guys pub night, there is something for everyone!
